Best known for its local knowledge of the famed Maumee River walleye and white bass runs in the spring and for its daily online river report (March - May), the expertise of Maumee Tackle goes well beyond leadheads and floating jigs.
A renovated showroom features knotty pine and plenty of well-displayed taxidermy. But more importantly, it offers a broad array of river gear (not just for walleye but for largemouth & smallmouth bass, white bass, and catfish) and first-hand, local information. Literally tons of jigs and hundreds of varieties of soft plastics greet eager fishermen. Waders, nets, and a complete live bait menu add to the appeal of the neighborhood shop.
While some of the hottest fishing on the
Maumee is literally just a few short blocks
away, Maumee Tackle's
selection remains diverse. The spacious facility
has ample room for a healthy offering of Lake Erie gear,
a quality
selection of rods and reels (including brands like St. Croix
and G. Loomis), reel repair service, pond
and ice fishing supplies, and an ever-expanding
fly fishing section.
